Automobile Windshield Separator Machine Drives Efficient Recycling of Laminated Glass

As global vehicle scrappage volumes continue to rise, the recycling of laminated automotive windshields has become a critical challenge for the recycling industry. A newly optimized Automobile Windshield Separator Machine offers a practical and efficient solution for separating glass and PVB film, significantly improving recycling efficiency and material recovery quality.

Integrated Design for Laminated Glass Recycling

The system consists of four core units:

  • Roller Press Machine (Pre-press Unit)
  • Separator Machine
  • Conveyor System
  • Electrical Control System

Together, they form a complete processing line designed specifically for end-of-life automotive windshields, enabling controlled crushing, moisture-assisted delamination, and clean separation of glass and PVB.

Pre-Press Roller Machine: Enhancing Moisture Penetration

The roller press machine plays a crucial role in the recycling process. Its main function is to pre-crush laminated glass, allowing water to penetrate the PVB interlayer more effectively.

Key technical specifications include:

  • Power: 4 kW
  • Gear Reducer: JZQ250
  • Maximum feeding size: 1300 mm
  • Machine dimensions: 2300 × 1100 × 1500 mm

During operation, a water drenching pipe installed between the rollers continuously sprays water onto the glass.

Workers manually feed windshields into the double-roll mill, where the glass is crushed while maintaining the integrity of the PVB film.

After pre-pressing, the broken laminated glass is stacked and covered with a tarpaulin to absorb moisture. Following 2–3 days of hydration, the PVB turns milky white, indicating optimal conditions for separation.

Separator Machine: Clean Glass Removal and PVB Recovery

Once hydrated, the laminated glass is transferred via conveyor into the separator machine, which removes residual glass from the PVB film.

Separator specifications include:

  • Main power: 11 kW (frequency-controlled motor)
  • Cylinders: 2 sets (SC50 × 300)
  • Fan power: 1.1 kW
  • Mesh size: 14 mm
  • Internal liner: Chromium carbide wear-resistant plate

The robust wear-resistant liner ensures long service life even under continuous operation, while frequency conversion control improves energy efficiency and operational stability.

When separation is complete, operators use a wireless remote control to safely open the discharge bin for material unloading, reducing labor intensity and improving site safety.

Conveyor System and Safety-Focused Operation

The conveyor system, powered by a 1.5 kW motor with a 1:17 speed ratio, delivers pre-pressed windshields steadily into the separator. Its steel-plate bending frame ensures durability and stable operation in industrial recycling environments.

To ensure safety and efficiency:

  • Operators load 4–5 windshields at a time
  • Discharge is only performed after abnormal collision or friction noise stops
  • Personnel are instructed to keep clear of the discharge port during unloading

High-Value PVB Output for Circular Economy

After separation, the recovered PVB film is cut into strips and packed with plastic film liners, making it suitable for downstream reuse in construction materials, sound insulation products, or chemical recycling applications.
